Tough loss to Tigers

The boys’ varsity hockey team took on the Cleveland Heights Tigers in the first round of the Baron Cup last Tuesday night.
The Rangers lost in a nail-bitter by a score of 3-2. The first period had no score from either team.
The Rangers came out strong in the second period when senior Brendan Scheel scored within the first two minutes to give LHS a 1-0 lead.
In the final minutes of the second period, there were back-to-back goals. First by Cleveland Heights, then the Rangers, taking their lead back when senior Nick Kovach scored..
The Rangers were winning 2-1 going into the third period. Things were looking good for the Rangers until a goal scored by Cleveland Heights with 50 seconds left in the game. The tying goal sent the game into overtime.
Overtime was physical from the start but the Rangers couldn’t hang on. Cleveland Heights scored with only two minutes left in overtime.
The Rangers were eliminated from the Baron Cup. The team takes on Westlake this Wednesday night at the Brooklyn Recreation in sectional play for the OHSAA State Tournament.
