Pushing to the limits for a better season this spring. Indoor track is a club that is primarily for people who are getting ready for track and field in the spring time. The athletes are not obligated to go every day, but it is Monday through Thursday. There are different workouts for the distance, sprinting, shot-put, and discuss teams.
This indoor track season has been a good turnout which leads the team to have big expectations. The distance team runs anywhere from 4-8 miles with a follow-up of core for their workout. The sprinting team does brutal workouts on the stairs and sprints throughout the halls. The shot-put and discuss team works more with weights and perfecting their craft.
No doubts that the track and field team has been working efficiently this winter. Their hard work ethic makes coach Scott Troyan enthusiastic for the upcoming season. Troyans said, “it’s been a very good indoor season. The athletes have taken advantage of the warm winter weather and gotten good workouts in. This spring both teams have a great chance of winning the NOC Championship.”
Troyan isn’t the only one with high hopes. One the captains who is active on the distance team, senior Veronica Cole, said, “we’ve been training really hard this winter, and since we moved down to the lake division I really want the team to do great this season.”
Track and field is also fun for the athletes. Senior, Hannah Piter said, “track is a ton of fun. It’s great to be a part of a team and I love the team dinners.” The LHS boys and girls’ track and field team has been putting in big efforts this winter with big expectations for the upcoming season.
